PRETTY IN PIGMENT

“Pretty in Pigment

This piece was inspired by a fellow artist, Sara Pegg, who awoke one day to find a Nick Ringelstetter business card on the floor of her shop. She had never heard of him or been exposed to his work, but she reached out anyway and they connected immediately. Pegg is also a UV artist who’s working on building a self-sustainable community for artists north of Detroit, Michigan, offering them a place to crash in exchange for labor on the farm.

She told Ringelstetter that when she was younger she was unable to find others to relate to, so she would take her art supplies and climb into her washing machine to draw the world she wished she lived in. Ringelstetter then found himself wondering what the worlds she was creating looked like, and couldn’t stop himself from painting. Connecting with other artists who have gone through similar challenges in life is something that has always motivated Ringelstetter, and that is depicted clearly in this tribute to Pegg and other misfits.
