THE CABIN

“The Cabin”

This piece was inspired by life in the river bottom of Spring Green, Wisconsin. During the summer, it seems as though the world around you is sealed off from wandering eyes, but once autumn latches onto the landscape and the leaves begin to fall, you’re granted a limited time view into what is lying behind the trees. If you pay attention, you may begin to see abandoned cars, summer homes and cabins, windmills, and many other random things you may not have been expecting, and certainly wouldn’t have seen had you skipped town before the fall.

“Living in this world, you don’t always see what’s going on around you, it’s
like you’re blind to what’s happening out of your sight line and your focus is set straight in front of you. I’ve always found that really intriguing.” Ringelstetter says during his tale of this piece, while going on to mention his fondness for the Tim Burton inspired windmill that, with any hope, we will get to see new interpretations of the art yet to come.

This painting is a bitter sweet reminder of life in a small town once age creeps in, and the joys of reaching the point in your life when you’re able to say “I’ve done enough, it’s time to enjoy the little things now. Even if we get massacred by this giant, multi-eyed octopus, it was a great life and the next journey will be incredible as well.”
