The lines in this piece are bold, almost defiant, and there’s no shading to be found. “Creatures” was created at the beginning of Ringelstetter’s career when he still had himself in a mindset of striving for ‘perfection’. However, this painting is beloved by its creator for the symbolism and the adorable characters immortalized on this canvas.

Ringelstetter has always had a connection to the popular Pixar movie’s antagonist, viewing him as a misunderstood misfit whose creativity and innovation were overshadowed by his motives. The original of this painting found its home with another beloved character of Ringelstetter’s, an artist from the Wisconsin Dells area who has grow close to Ringelstetter over the years.
