JAMIN

“JAMIN” By Nick Ringelstetter

Back in the day, before Nick Ringelstetter was Nick Ringelstetter, he was a top seller on Ebay, creating smaller pieces to work towards perfecting his craft. Needless to say, it was mind-blowing when someone reached out to him and asked for a 3×6 custom piece including graffiti, minions, and a DJ theme for $300. At this point in Nick’s life this was a great opportunity to make a little bit of extra money, so he happily accepted.

Over the next two months of creation, Nick kept in contact with the buyer until the day the piece was finished. He sent over a picture of the final product, only to receive radio silence in return. Unsure of what happened to this client, Nick hung on to the piece, mostly keeping it in storage, as it was too large to cart around to the shows.

Two years later, our artist decided to hold his one and only Black Friday sale. This decision came with some negative feedback, but more importantly it opened a channel in the universe that allowed a great opportunity to funnel into Nick’s life. He was at the point where he had just finished a tour and was now looking at going back to a factory job for the winter in order to support the next year’s endeavors, but he knew that he was so close to making a living from his art that he just need a little bit more money to forgo the factory and become a fulltime artist.

As Nick and his father sat in their living room, brainstorming what he could do to skip the factory job, the unbelievable happen. A simple message can change our lives, and that was certainly the case when our artist received a PayPal notification for $3,200 with a note that read “call this number”.

In sheer disbelief, Nick called the number despite his overwhelming anxiety about making phone calls and received the deal of a lifetime. The party on the other end of the line wanted to not only purchase this wonderfully playful piece, but also to fund the upcoming skateboard line Nick was hoping to release, with the one condition, that our artist kept all of the 1st edition skateboards from this project. He told the artist to stash them away and insured their value would go up over time.

This was a life-changing event for Nick. This complete stranger’s faith in Nick’s work gave him the freedom to become a fulltime artist and focus solely on advancing his craft and his reach in the artistic community. What a blessing in disguise this custom piece turned out to be, despite never finding its original home. The universe works in mysterious ways and the stories behind Nick’s creations are a constant reminder of that.
